§ 53.10 PRIVATE WELLS.
   (A)   New private wells for potable water purposes are prohibited.
   (B)   Existing wells not needing repair or replacement. Persons, firms or corporations may maintain existing private wells, as well as the pump, motor, wiring and plumbing from the pump to the building, without penalty.
   (C)   Existing wells needing repair or replacement. Any person, firm or corporation (hereinafter "owner"), who has an existing private well, and who replaces the casing, screen or sleeve, or drills a new well, shall not use water drawn from any such private well for potable water purposes. The owner shall be required to connect to the town water supply, with all fees to be paid by the owner for a new connection. In the event the owner replaces the casing, screen or sleeve, or drills a new well, no such private well may be connected to a building by plumbing. After the new connection is made to the town water supply, the connection fees are paid, and the connection is inspected by the Town Water Superintendent, the owner may perform whatever repairs are necessary to the private well, so long as it is not used for potable water.
