§ 72.01 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   ALL TERRAIN VEHICLE. A trail bike, mini bike, amphibious vehicle, or other self-propelled vehicle designed for use on natural terrain, except ALL TERRAIN VEHICLE shall not include special mobile equipment as defined in M.S. § 168.011(22), as it may be amended from time to time, nor any motor vehicle licensed for operation upon a roadway.
   OPERATE. To ride in or on and control the operation of a snowmobile or all terrain vehicle.
   OPERATOR. A person who operates, or is in actual physical control of, a snowmobile or all terrain vehicle.
   OWNER. The registered owner or the actual owner of a snowmobile or all terrain vehicle.
   ROADWAY. The portion of a road, street, alley, or highway which is improved, designed, or ordinarily used for vehicular traffic.
   SNOWMOBILE. A self-propelled vehicle designed for travel on snow or ice, steered by skis or runners.
