§ 33.17 DUTIES OF FIRE CHIEF; ASSISTANT CHIEF.
   (A)   Duties and powers of Fire Chief. The Fire Chief shall perform the duties specified in the job description for Fire Chief as approved by the Council and shall have control over all of the firefighting apparatus and shall be responsible for its care and condition. The Chief shall make an annual report to the Council as to the condition of the equipment and needs of the Fire Department, and at other times as requested by the Council. The Chief may submit additional reports and recommendations at any meeting of the Council. The Chief shall be responsible for the proper training and supervision of the firefighters, and may recommend discipline of any firefighter pending final action by the Council on the discipline of any firefighter.

   (B)   Deputy Fire Chief. In the absence or disability of the Fire Chief, the Deputy Fire Chief shall perform all the functions and exercise all of the authority of the Chief.
