(A) The Assistant Chief and firefighters shall be able-bodied and not less than 21 years of age.
(B) They shall have a 6-month probationary period, but shall become members of the Fire Department, effective the first day of service.
(C) The City Council may require that each candidate, before he or she may become a probationary firefighter, must satisfy certain minimum requirements of height, weight, education and any other qualifications which may be specified by the City Council; and that he or she must pass satisfactorily a mental and physical examination.
