All police officers, before entering upon the duties of their office, shall take and subscribe to an oath of office and post a security bond of a type and in an amount approved by the President and Board of Trustees. Such civilian employees as may from time to time be designated by the Chief of Police with the approval of the Police Committee shall post a security bond of a type and in an amount approved by the President and Board of Trustees.
