(A) New work. For all new work, wiring shall be installed in a rigid conduit, electrical metallic tubing, or surface metal raceways, except that it shall be permissible to use a section of BX where flexible connection are necessary, not exceeding two feet in length and approved UL listed underground cable.
(B) Old work. Metallic armored cable (BX) may be used for extensions to existing wiring from a metal clad or full metallic system in lengths not to exceed six feet.
