§ 93.51 MAINTAINING COMPOST PILES; PROCEDURE.

   All compost piles shall be maintained using approved composting procedures to comply with the following requirements:

   (A)   All compost piles shall be enclosed in a free- standing bin. Each compost bin shall be no larger in volume than 100 cubic feet, and shall be no taller than four feet.

   (B)   All compost piles shall be so maintained as to prevent the attraction or harborage of rodents and pests. The presence of rodents in or near a compost pile shall be cause for the Building Department to proceed under §§ 93.35 through 93.38.

   (C)   All compost piles shall be so maintained as to prevent unpleasant odors. Compost piles containing hors manure or fruits shall be kept covered, except when turning.

   (D)   No compost pile shall be located in any yard except as follows: In a rear yard not less than three feet from all lot lines, nor closer than 20 feet from any dwelling unit.
