Full-time employees of the village shall receive a maximum of three days leave with pay in order to attend a funeral or other services in connection with the death of a member of the employee's immediate family. An employee's
IMMEDIATE FAMILY means his/her spouse, child, mother, father, stepparents, stepchildren, brother, sister, grandparents, grandchildren, mother- in-law, or father-in-law. If the employee wants additional time off, he may use accumulated sick leave, vacation leave, or take an unpaid leave of absence, with the permission of their supervisor. If an employee wishes to be absent from work due to a death outside the employee's immediate family, he may use accumulated sick leave, vacation leave, or take an unpaid leave of absence with the permission of their immediate supervisor. A paid leave of absence form must be completed to receive pay for this leave. (See Appendix E following this chapter).
