175.21 TERMINATION PAY FOR UNUSED SICK LEAVE.
   Upon retirement or death, an employee may convert to a cash payment one-half of accumulated and unused sick leave up to a maximum of sixty days cashed out (480 hours). Employees hired before December 11, 2000, shall be allowed to convert to a cash payment one-half of all accumulated unused sick leave without limit upon retirement or death. For purposes of this section, retirement shall be defined as termination of employment when eligible to immediately begin receiving pension benefits under the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) or any other retirement system which has coordinated its benefits with PERS. For employees hired after September 1, 2004, only sick leave earned while employed with the City of Oregon shall be eligible for cash conversion.
