(a) The Division of Fire is hereby authorized to provide fire protection to any county, municipal corporation, village or township of the State which is contiguous to the corporate limits of the City in a life threatening situation.
(b) The Chief of Fire or his duly designated subordinate is authorized to provide such fire protection and rescue service pursuant to the provisions of this section.
(c) Whenever officers of the Division of Fire act pursuant to subsection (a) hereof, such action is hereby declared to be within the scope of their employment, so long as such act would be within the scope of such employment if done within the corporate limits of the City and all legal protection afforded to such officers in the course of their employment within such corporate limits shall continue when acting in another jurisdiction.
