It shall be the duty of the officers and inspectors of the Bureau to make inspections, promote safety practices, conduct educational fire prevention programs, minimize fire hazards and assist in enforcing all laws and ordinances of the City in relation to fire prevention and fire hazards, including but not limited to the following:
(a) The prevention of fires and abatement of existing fire hazards.
(b) The storage and use of explosives and inflammables.
(c) The installation, adequacy and maintenance of automatic and other fire alarm systems and fire extinguishing equipment.
(d) The maintenance, adequacy and regulation of fire escapes.
(e) The means and adequacy of exit in the case of fire from factories, schools, hotels, lodging houses, rest homes, hospitals, churches, halls, theaters, amphitheaters and all other places in which numbers of persons work, live or congregate, from time to time, for any purpose.
(f) The investigation of the cause, origin and circumstances attending fires whether or not the Fire Division has been summoned to extinguish the same.
The members of the Bureau shall have such other powers and perform such other duties consistent with the laws of Ohio and ordinances of the City as may be conferred and
imposed upon them from time to time by the Chief or the Mayor or his designee. In the absence of or during the disability of the Chief of the Bureau, the District Chief of the Bureau shall perform the duties of and be vested with the powers and authority of the Chief if so ordered by the Mayor.
