Every person desiring to be licensed as provided in this chapter shall file with the Commissioner of Building and Zoning Inspection upon a form furnished upon request by the Commissioner, verified under oath, setting forth the facts which entitle the applicant to examination and licensure under the provisions of this chapter. Upon failure to pass, each applicant shall have another opportunity to take the examination with fee. After successful passing of the examination, the applicant shall receive a license from the Commissioner, entitling him to practice his trade in this City which license shall be duly registered.
If a contractor maintains more than one establishment or shop for the transaction of business then such contractor shall obtain a license for each such establishment or branch.
Every holder of a certificate of shop registration shall keep his, their or its certificate displayed in a conspicuous place in his, their or its principal place of business.
If a contractor fails to secure a renewal of his license within sixty days after the expiration date of his certificate or license he shall be required to pass examination and pay the regular annual fee as in the original application. In no case shall the unearned portion of a fee paid be returned to a contractor whose license has been revoked or annulled by the Commissioner for any cause as hereinafter provided.
Each license shall expire on December 31 following the date of its issue and shall be renewed by the Commissioner, upon application of the holder of the license and payment of the required fees any time before or on January 1 of each year.
All licenses issued under the provisions of this chapter shall remain in the name of the person, firm or corporation to whom issued.
No holder of a contractor's license shall lend his license to or procure permits in his name for any other person.
