No person shall be eligible to hold the office of Mayor unless he/she shall have been a qualified elector at the time of filing his/her nominating petition with the Board of Elections and have attained the age of 22 years at the time of submitting nominating petitions and continuously a resident of the Municipality for two (2) years immediately prior to his/her election or appointment. The Mayor shall continue to be a resident and qualified elector of the Municipality throughout his/her term of office, failing which, Council shall remove him/her from office.
