ARTICLE I
NAME AND BOUNDARIES
The Municipal Corporation now existing and known as the City of Oregon, Ohio, hereinafter in this Charter called the “Municipality”, shall be and continue to be a body politic and corporate under the name of the City of Oregon and with the same boundaries as now exist including two miles from the shoreline into Lake Erie with power and authority to change the boundaries and annex other territory contiguous thereto in the manner authorized by the laws of Ohio, but no territory shall be detached therefrom nor shall the Municipality be annexed to any other municipality or body politic without the consent of the City's Council and of a majority of its electors voting on such questions at an election held and conducted in the manner provided by law. The term "City" as used in this Charter shall be construed to mean the municipality of Oregon, which was originally incorporated as a village and which subsequently became a municipality pursuant to the Constitution and laws of Ohio.
