The Director of Public Service shall furnish such line and gradestakes as may be necessary for the proper control of work covered by this chapter. The owner or contractor shall not be relieved thereby of the responsibility for making careful and accurate measurements in constructing the work to the lines furnished by the Director. The owner or contractor shall preserve the points furnished by the Director and such stakes for line or grades which are disturbed or destroyed shall be replaced by the Director only upon payment of a charge of one dollar ($1.00) per stake, payable at the office of the Clerk-Auditor.
