(A) Appointment. With the advice and consent of the Village Board, the Mayor may appoint an engineer for the village, who shall serve for the term of the Mayor or for such period not exceeding the term of the Mayor, as may be designated by the Mayor and Village Board.

(B) Duties; salary.
(1) The Village Engineer shall make and submit plans, estimates and specifications for any public work which may be proposed or ordered by the Village Board.
(2) The Engineer shall also examine all public works under his or her charge and see that the plans, estimates and specifications for the same are properly executed.
(3) The Engineer shall be paid such sums as shall be determined from time to time upon invoices submitted to the Village Board.
