§ 34.29 EFFECTIVENESS.
The proclamation herein authorized shall be effective for a period of seven days or until adjournment of the next regular meeting of the village’s Board of Trustees, unless sooner terminated by a proclamation of the Mayor indicating that the civil emergency no longer exists. The Mayor shall have the power to renew the proclamation of the existence of a civil emergency at the end of each seven-day period during the time the civil emergency exists, but in no case may the Mayor extend the proclamation beyond the adjournment of the next regular meeting of the Board of Trustees or any special meeting called for the purpose of acting upon the emergency. Nothing herein shall prevent the village’s Board of Trustees from declaring a continuing state of emergency and vesting continued extraordinary powers in the Mayor to a date certain or until the adjournment of the next regular meeting of the Board of Trustees.
