(a) There is hereby created the position of Medical Director of emergency medical services of the Fire Department. The Medical Director shall be a physician appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council, who shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor.
(b) The Medical Director of emergency medical services of the Fire Department shall advise the emergency medical services programs and functions of the Fire Department, shall assist in the continuing medical training and education of the members of the Fire Department and shall assist in maintaining and assuring the required level and quality of emergency medical care provided by the Fire Department.
(c) The Medical Director shall not draw compensation unless such is provided for by Council.
