Each member of Council shall have been a resident and registered elector of the municipality for at least two (2) continuous years before the date of his or her election or appointment and shall continue to be a resident of the municipality throughout his or her term.
A member of Council shall not hold any other elected public office or be employed by or hold any other office in this municipality except that of a member of the Volunteer Fire Department, a Notary Public, a member of the State Militia or Reserve Corps of the United States, unless otherwise provided by the Charter. Any member of Council who shall cease to possess any of the qualifications enumerated herein shall forfeit his or her office, but failure to maintain such qualifications shall not render void or ineffective any action of Council in which such member has participated.
No member of Council shall be interested in the profits or emoluments of any contract, job, work or service for which monies of the municipality are or will be expended.
