§ 31.45  POLICE RESERVES.
   (A)   The town has the authority to create police reserves by the passage of a proper ordinance.
   (B)   There is hereby created for the town a Police Reserve, which shall be known as the town’s police auxiliary, pursuant to I.C. 36-8-3-20.
   (C)   All auxiliary police will be bound by the same rules and regulations as the regular Police Department.
   (D)   The number of police auxiliary shall not be more than four.
   (E)   Auxiliary police may not be members of the regular Police Department, but shall have all the same police powers as such members, except as may be limited by the rules of the Police Department.
   (F)   Police auxiliary shall be appointed by the Town Marshal. No police auxiliary shall be appointed until he or she completes the minimum 40 hours pre-basic course given by a qualified state Law Enforcement Instructor.
   (G)   Police auxiliary members may be removed by the Town Marshal or Town Council for just cause.
   (H)   In the event that funds for benefits are appropriated, police auxiliary may, to the extent of such appropriation, receive a uniform allowance; however, this chapter creates no obligation for the town to make such appropriation.
   (I)   Police auxiliary may not participate in any pension program provided for regular members of the Police Department.
