(A) Appointment of Town Marshal.
(1) The Town Council may appoint a Town Marshal and shall fix his or her compensation.
(2) The Town Marshal serves at the pleasure of the Town Council. However, before terminating or suspending the Town Marshal who has been employed by the town for more than six months, after completing the minimum basic training requirements adopted by the Law Enforcement Training Board under I.C. 5-2-1-9, the Town Council must conduct any disciplinary removal and appeals procedures as prescribed by I.C. 36-8.
(3) The Town Marshal is the chief enforcement officer of the town and has the powers of other law enforcement officers in executing orders of the Town Council and enforcing laws.

(B) Deputies, authorized. The Town Marshal is authorized to appoint any citizen of the town as a Deputy Marshal upon such terms and provisions as said Town Marshal may deem necessary. Any Deputy Marshal as appointed shall possess the powers of the Town Marshal and be subject to the same liabilities.

(C) Powers of Deputies. The Town Council authorizes any Deputy Marshal so appointed to execute the orders of said Town Council and to enforce all ordinances of the town.

(D) Bond, compensation, and terms of Deputies. The Town Council shall regulate all Deputy Marshals so appointed as to amount of bond, compensation, and terms of service.
