(A) Town Manager position created. Pursuant to I.C. 36-5-5-1 et seq., the position of Town Manager is created commencing with the first day of January 1988, or on the date this section is signed, whichever is later.

(B) Serves at the pleasure of Town Council. The person serving as Town Manager shall serve at the pleasure of the Town Council.

(C) Bond. The Town Manager must, in the manner provided by I.C. 5-4-1-1.2 through 5-4-1-15.1, execute a bond for the faithful performance of his or her duties. The bond shall be paid for by the town and shall be payable to the town. Such bond shall be in the initial sum of $8,500 and is subject to change.

(D) Oath. The Town Manager shall take an official oath to perform his or her duties in the same manner as the oath taken by the Clerk-Treasurer.

(E) Powers and duties. The powers and duties of the Town Manager shall be as follows.
(1) The Town Manager, under the direction of the Town Council, is responsible for the administrative duties of the Town Council.
(2) The Town Manager shall attend the meetings of the Town Council and recommend actions he or she considers advisable.
(3) The Town Manager shall administer and enforce all ordinances, orders, and resolutions of the Town Council.
(4) The Town Manager shall see that all statutes that are required to be administered by the Town Council or the town officials, subject to the control of the Town Council, are faithfully administered.
(5) The Town Manager may receive service of summons on behalf of the town.

(F) Role of Town Council. The Town Council may increase or decrease the duties of the Town Manager by amending this section.
