1478.04 MECHANICAL REQUIREMENTS.
   (a)   No detector shall be used unless it is sensitive to both visible and invisible products of combustion. A rate-of-rise heat detector shall not be acceptable.
   (b)   No detector shall be used which does not contain an alarm-sounding device rated at a minimum of eighty-five decibels at ten feet, which is not able to sound such level of warning for a minimum of four continuous minutes on a battery power source, and which is not clearly audible in all bedrooms in a dwelling when all intervening doors are closed.
   (c)   Smoke detectors used in new construction shall be interconnected such that the actuation of one alarm will actuate all the alarms in the dwelling unit.
