The Architectural Board of Review is established for the purposes of:
(a) Preserving the distinctive character of the City of Olmsted Falls, Ohio, and promoting compatible development therein.
(b) Protecting the public health, safety and welfare by maintaining and promoting a high character of community development and by protecting real estate in the City from impairment or destruction of value by regulating building in or by the City according to property principles of architectural design. The Board will seek to promote the highest aesthetic quality of construction by approving the type of construction and materials used and by reviewing the placement of structures and other features on a site.
(c) Safeguarding the architecture of Designated Historic Buildings, Landmarks and Structures within the Municipality.
(d) Protecting the heritage of the Municipality by preserving those elements that reflect the City's cultural, social, economic, educational, political and/or architectural past.
(e) Preventing demolition of or incompatible alterations to Designated Historic Buildings, Landmarks and Structures within Historic Districts.
(f) Fostering economic vitality by publicly encouraging private investment in the City's older buildings and historic neighborhoods.
(g) Promoting civic pride in the City's beauty and its notable accomplishments of the past. (Ord. 78-2008. Passed 1-27-09.)
