As used in this chapter, "solicitor," "canvasser," "peddler" and "hawker" mean any person, whether a resident of the City or not, who sells or offers for sale within the City, any goods or chattels of any kind, by going from house to house or from place to place through the streets of the City with such goods or chattels on his or her person or in his or her possession or under his or her control, or who sells by subscription or by taking orders for future delivery of goods or chattels of any kind, whether such person travels by foot, wagon, motor vehicle or any other type of conveyance.
