(a) There is hereby established an Auxiliary Police Unit to consist of not more than twenty-five men, which shall serve within the Police Department of the City. The Police Chief shall be the executive head of the Auxiliary Police Unit, shall make all the appointments and removals of Auxiliary police officers and shall prescribe rules and regulations for the organization, training, administration, control and conduct of the Auxiliary Police Unit. The Police Chief shall have the exclusive control of the stationing and transferring of all Auxiliary police officers. Auxiliary policemen shall serve without pay.
(b) The position of Reserve police officer is hereby established. Persons holding this position shall be certified as police officers by the Ohio Peace Officers Training Council and shall continue to hold a valid certification. They will serve the community on a volunteer basis and will receive no compensation of any type. They will have all enforcement powers of the law. The Safety Director will have authority to appoint and remove individuals as Reserve police officers. Reserve police officers will follow all rules, regulations, orders and training requirements of the Police Department. (Ord. 92-2006. Passed 6-27-06.)
