(A) The city finds it necessary to show its appreciation for the members of its Fire Department and whereas said token amount of compensation inadequately reflects said appreciation and is not equal in value to the selfless acts of the Fire Department members and in order to correct such deficiencies, by making the award more timely, pursuant to KRS 83A.060(7), an emergency is hereby declared that city firefighters shall be compensated in the following manner: payment based upon monies received from insurance payments to the city.
(B) This section shall take effect after its passage and upon publication.
