§ 17.04.550 LOCATION, HEIGHT, AND SIZE OF ACCESSORY BUILDINGS.
   (A)   Accessory buildings shall be prohibited in any required front yard or side street yard. Accessory buildings shall be a distance of at lease six feet from alley lines. In any zone requiring a side yard or rear yard, the accessory building shall be at least one and one-half feet from any adjoining lot line. In all residential zones, the maximum height of the accessory building shall not exceed the height of the principal structure and in no case exceed 20 feet in height at mid-gable. The maximum height of the accessory building shall be measured from the grade surrounding the structure to the apex of the gable. In nonresidential zones, the accessory building shall not exceed the maximum height restriction for the zone in which they are located.
   (B)   Where any portion of an accessory structure projects between a principal structure and the side lot line, the accessory building shall comply with the required side yard restriction for a principal building for the zone in which they are located. In residential zones, accessory buildings shall not exceed the lot coverage of the building to which it is necessary. The total size of all accessory buildings to dwelling units shall be limited to no more than 50% of the total square footage to which they are accessory or 800 square feet, whichever is greater.
