§ 17.04.540 FLOODPLAIN DEVELOPMENT.
   Land within the city that is located below 760 feet (above mean sea level) is subject to flooding. It is the intent of this chapter to prevent development within the floodplain of any buildings and structures that would impede the flow of water and increase the height of floodwaters in accordance with the Floodplain Development Standards adopted by the city in conformance with the requirements of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The erection of any permanent structure within the floodplain for purposes of residence, industry, or commerce must meet these standards where applicable or it is prohibited. All other uses will be treated as conditional and must be approved by the Board of
Adjustment.
