The Chief of Police shall forthwith cause to be seized and impounded any poisonous reptile or dangerous animal where the person owning or keeping or harboring the animal has failed to comply with the notice herein above described. Upon seizure and impoundment, the poisonous reptile or dangerous animal shall be delivered to a suitable place of confinement. If, during the course of seizing and impounding any poisonous reptile or dangerous animal, the reptile or animal poses a risk of serious physical harm or death to any person, and if the police authority deems it necessary, the reptile or animal may be killed.
