14.16.040: NONDRILLING TERRITORY:
In order to preserve and safeguard the life, property, public peace, safety and general welfare of the city and the citizens thereof, there are established within the AG district described in title 17 of this code certain nondrilling territories in which no well shall be drilled or put down for the production of petroleum and/or natural gas, which territories are particularly described as follows: no well shall be drilled or put down for the production of petroleum and/or natural gas at any point less than a distance of six hundred feet (600') from the outside wall of any public accommodation facilities seating ten (10) or more persons; or school buildings, and; provided, further, that the distance shall be calculated from the center of said well to the closest point of the wall.
No permit shall be issued or granted therefor, and such property within the areas described in this section shall be known as nondrilling territory in the AG district. (Ord. 1953, 2010: Ord. 1369 § 5D, 1979)
