It is the policy of the city of Okmulgee that in the consideration of proposed amendments to this zoning code, amendments will be adopted to recognize changes in the comprehensive plan, to correct error, or to recognize changed or changing conditions in a particular area or in the city generally. The zoning regulations are intended to lessen congestion in the streets, to secure safety from fire, panic and other dangers, to promote health and the general welfare, to provide adequate light and air, to prevent overcrowding of land, to promote historical preservation, to avoid undue concentration of the population and to facilitate the adequate provision of transportation, water, sewerage, schools, parks, stormwater conveyance, and other public requirements.
