§ 31.07 COUNTY CONVENTION TOURISM AND VISITOR COMMISSION.
   (A)   There is hereby established the County Convention, Tourism and Visitor Commission.
   (B)   The Commission shall be composed of seven members, of which no more than a simple majority may be affiliated with the same political party, and each member must reside in the county.
   (C)   Members of the Commission shall be appointed in the following manner:
      (1)   Four members by the Board of County Commissioners; and
      (2)   Three members by the Mayor of the City of Rising Sun, one of whom must be engaged in the hotel or motel business within the county.
   (D)   The term of office of each new member, beginning January 2, 2001 shall be as follows: that the initial appointment of the County Commissioners shall be for a two-year periods; and the initial appointment of the Mayor of Rising Sun shall be for a one-year period and then a two-year period thereafter, in order that the terms of office of the new members may thereafter be staggered.
   (E)   A simple majority of the members must be: Engaged in a convention, visitor or tourism business; or involved in or promoting conventions, visitors or tourism. If available and willing to serve, at least two of the members must be engaged in the business of renting or furnishing rooms, lodging or accommodations as described in I.C. 6-9-18-3. In addition, not more than one member may be affiliated with the same business entity, not more than a simple majority of the members may be affiliated with the same political party and each member must reside in the county.
   (F)   Members of the Commission may not receive a salary. However, Commission members shall be entitled to reimbursement for necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their respective duties.
   (G)   The Commission shall meet after January 1 each year for the purpose of organization. It shall elect one of its members President, one Vice President and one Treasurer. The members elected to those offices shall perform the duties pertaining to the offices. The first officers chosen shall serve from the date of their election until their successors are qualified. A majority of the Commission constitutes a quorum, and the concurrence of a majority of the Commission is necessary to authorize any action.
   (H)   All other conditions relating to said Commission shall be defined by I.C. 6-9-18.
   (I)   The ordinance codified in this section became effective on November 21, 2000, after due publication thereof.
