§ 31.082 CITY ATTORNEY AND SPECIAL COUNSEL.
   (A)   Appointment; term of office.
      (1)   The offices of City Attorney and Special Counsel shall be filled by appointment made by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council, by persons competent to carry out the duties of said offices. Such appointments may be for a term of four years, but shall not exceed the term of the Mayor.
      (2)   Any person holding said office(s) shall continue until a successor is appointed and confirmed.
   (B)   Removal. The City Attorney and Special Counsel may be removed from office by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council.
   (C)   Additional counsel. The Mayor, with the advice and consent of the City Council, may retain additional special counsel to advise or represent the city from time to time on such matters as may be designated by the Mayor.
