(A) The members of the Auxiliary Police Unit shall be residents of Ottawa County and may not be under the age of 18 years at the time of their appointment. Membership shall also conform to such other requirements as provided by the rules and regulations provided for in § 34.34.
(B) Notwithstanding the foregoing, with respect to those officers who are members of the Auxiliary Police Unit as of the effective date of this section, the only residency requirement is that such members be residents of the state.
