(A) Notice regulating soliciting. No person shall solicit at residences or businesses within the corporate limits of the city if a “NO SOLICITORS” sign has been posted on the residence or business in accordance with this section. Every person seeking to secure the protection provided by this section shall post a notice, no smaller than approximately three inches by four inches in size, on or near the main entrance door to the residence or business, stating “NO SOLICITORS”. For purposes of uniformity, the notices shall be provided by the City Clerk’s office, at no cost, to persons requesting the notices. The notice, so exhibited, shall constitute sufficient notice to any solicitor of the determination by the occupant of the residence or business to prohibit soliciting at that residence or business.
(B) Duties.
(1) Every solicitor, upon going onto any premises in the city upon which a residence or business is located, shall first examine the entrance area thereof to determine if a notice as set forth in division (A) of this section is attached. If so, he or she, whether licensed or not, shall immediately and peacefully depart from the premises.
(2) Any solicitor who has gained entrance to any residence or business, whether invited or not, shall immediately and peacefully depart from the premises when requested to do so by the occupant thereof.
