§ 73.09 COMMERCIAL AND HEAVY VEHICLES.
   (A)   In Residence Districts.
      (1)   No person shall park any vehicle with a gross weight of over 8,000 pounds, which is required ILCS Ch. 625, Act 5, § 3-815 to have a Class D or above license, on any residential property or street in the city, except in accordance with this section.
      (2)   Vehicles defined in division (A)(1) above may be parked in certain specified places in residence districts, as follows.
         (a)   Carports. A carport is a detached or attached structure with a covered roof containing one or more parking spaces and open on one or more sides. A carport located upon a lot developed with a residential dwelling serves a similar use as a private garage.
         (b)   Private garages. A private garage is a detached or attached structure located upon a lot developed with a residential dwelling (or a portion of a main residential building), used by the occupants residing upon the premises principally for the storage of passenger vehicles and other vehicles and equipment permitted upon the lot.
         (c)   Parking spaces. A parking space is a permanently surfaced area of not less than 180 square feet, either within a structure or in the open, excluding driveways, access drives and public streets, for the parking of a vehicle.
      (3)   Notwithstanding any provision of this section to the contrary, the parking of a vehicle on a street remains subject to the parking regulations of this Traffic Code, the Illinois Vehicle Code and the Zoning Code of the city.
   (B)   On streets. No person shall park any vehicle that in any way is used for commercial purposes on any street for a longer period than is necessary for the reasonably expeditious loading and unloading of the vehicle, or for a longer period, during daytime hours, than is necessary to complete the business transaction which requires that the vehicle be present on any street.
