§ 72.05 PERSONAL USE OF MOTORIZED OR MOTOR-ASSISTED VEHICLES.
   (A)   Definitions. For the purpose of this section, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
      MOTORIZED OR MOTOR-ASSISTED. Includes gasoline powered engines, diesel powered engines, electric powered engines or any combination thereof.
      MOTORIZED OR MOTOR-ASSISTED ALL-TERRAIN VEHICLE. A device 50 inches or less in width, having a manufacturer’s dry weight of 600 pounds or less, traveling on three or more tires, designed with a seat or saddle for operator use, and handlebars or steering wheel for steering control, and which is motorized or motor assisted and is not licensed for street use by the state of Illinois.
      MOTORIZED OR MOTOR-ASSISTED GO-CART. A device having two or more tandem axles and a combination of wheels connected by a platform designed for sitting which any person may ride and which is motorized or motor-assisted and is not licensed for street use by the State of Illinois.
      MOTORIZED OR MOTOR-ASSISTED MINI-BIKE. A device having two tandem wheels designed to be powered by motorized or motor-assisted power upon which any person may ride and which is not licensed for street use by the State of Illinois.
      MOTORIZED OR MOTOR-ASSISTED ROLLER SKATES. Devices worn on the feet with a combination of wheels which are motorized or motor-assisted. This definition includes devices commonly known as in-line skates.
      MOTORIZED OR MOTOR-ASSISTED SCOOTER. A device with two or more wheels connected by a platform with a steering handle or wheel which is designed for standing on, or has a seat for sitting upon, and which is motorized or motor-assisted and is not licensed for street use by the State of Illinois.
      MOTORIZED OR MOTOR-ASSISTED SKATEBOARDS. Devices with two or more tandem axles and a combination of wheels connected by a platform designed for standing which are motorized or motor-assisted.
   (B)   Prohibition.
      (1)   It shall be unlawful for, and no person shall use, operate, or be in control of any motorized or motor-assisted skateboard, roller skates, scooter, pedicycle, bicycle, mini-bike, go-cart or all-terrain vehicle, except as to areas privately owned and authorized by the owner for motorized or motor-assisted vehicle use.
      (2)   It shall be unlawful for, and no person shall operate or propel any motorized or motor-assisted skateboard, roller skates, scooter, pedicycle, bicycle, mini-bike, go-cart or all-terrain vehicle upon any sidewalk, roadway, street, public way or upon any municipal parking area within the corporate limits of the city.
   (C)   Applicability.
      (1)   The provisions of this section shall not apply to any of the above-referenced devices when participating in a parade authorized by the city.
      (2)   The provisions of this section shall also not apply to a motorized or motor-assisted wheelchair or scooter which is being used to transport a physically challenged person.
   (D)   Penalty. Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be fined as allowed by the City of Oak Forest general code penalty provision § 10.99.
