§ 70.24 DISPLAY OF STATE REGISTRATION PLATES AND REGISTRATION STICKERS.
   (A)   Registration plates issued for a motor vehicle other than a motorcycle, trailer, semitrailer or truck-tractor shall be attached thereto, one in the front and one in the rear.
   (B)   The registration plate issued for a motorcycle, trailer or semitrailer shall be attached to the rear thereof only.
   (C)   The registration plate issued for a truck-tractor shall be attached to the front thereof only.
   (D)   Every registration plate shall, at all times, be securely fastened in a horizontal position to the vehicle for which it is issued so as to prevent the plate from swinging. The plate shall be fastened at a height of not less than 12 inches from the ground, measuring from the bottom of the plate. The plate shall be fastened in a place and position so as to be clearly visible and shall be maintained free from foreign materials and in a condition as to be clearly legible.
   (E)   Registration stickers issued as evidence of renewed annual registration shall be attached to registration plates as required by the Secretary of State.
   (F)   No person shall operate or park, nor shall an owner permit to be operated or parked, on any public street or highway in the city, any vehicle required to be registered under the provisions of the Illinois Vehicle Code or this Traffic Code, either:
      (1)   Without valid registration plates and registration stickers or other proper evidence of registration, as required for that vehicle by the Illinois Vehicle Code or the Secretary of State; or
      (2)   With cancelled, suspended, revoked or expired registration plates, registration stickers or other proper evidence of registration as required for that vehicle by the Illinois Vehicle Code or the Secretary of State.
