The members shall be appointed for a term of three years. If a member resigns or is otherwise unable to continue their duties as a commissioner, another member may be appointed to fulfill the remaining time in that term with the approval of the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council. Members shall be selected on the basis of experience and/or knowledge of veteran’s affairs and concerns with a strong desire to work with and for and to otherwise assist local veterans and their families. Members shall serve without compensation.
