§ 32.147 APPOINTMENTS TO POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS.

(A) The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners shall appoint all officers and members of the Fire Department and the Police Department, except the Chief of Police and the Fire Chief, which appointments may be made by the Mayor with the consent of Council.

(B) All appointments made by the Board shall be made from the rank next below that to which the appointment is made, other than that of the lowest rank.
