§ 32.053 TRAINING PROGRAM.
   (A)   The city elects to participate in the program provided for in the Illinois Police Training Act.
   (B)   Before an individual may commence regular employment as a police officer, he or she shall be certified by the Illinois Local Governmental Law Enforcement Officers Training Board as having successfully completed an approved training course as provided in the Act.
   (C)   The basic training must be completed by the trainee within his or her probationary period of one year.
   (D)   The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners shall require that any person appointed to the department, pursuant to ILCS Ch. 65, Act 5, § 10-2.1-29 and the Act, shall not become a regular member of the Department unless and until he or she has completed the approved training course within one year of the date of his or her initial employment.
