§ 157.14 WATER TREATMENT.
Private residential pools and pool areas shall be kept in a state of cleanliness at all times. A proper and adequate supply of chlorine or an equal thereof shall be kept on hand at all times. A kit for testing both the amount of residual chlorine and the degree of the pH factor shall be provided. The following conditions shall apply to the treatment of pool water.
   (A)   If a mechanical device is used for the injection of disinfectant into the pool water, it shall be one using chlorine compounds only and shall be located so as to introduce the chlorine into the recirculation system ahead of the filter. Gaseous chlorination systems shall not be used.
   (B)   Chlorine shall be added to the pool water at frequent intervals and in such quantities to maintain a minimum free chlorine residual of 0.5 parts per million.
   (C)   The pH factor shall be frequently checked to determine the degree of acidity or alkalinity of the pool water. It is recommended that if this factor reaches a point of less than 7.2 or higher than 7.8 on the scale, appropriate correction treatment be made.
   (D)   It is recommended that the test kit used be of the color chart type (colormetric comparator), with or without numerals on a scale.
