For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
AT LARGE. Off the premises of the owner and not under the control of the owner or a member of his immediate family, either by leash, cord, chain or within immediate view of the above mentioned persons.
DOG. Any male, female or spayed female dog of any age.
IMPOUNDED. Having been received into the custody of the town pound or into the custody of any authorized agent or representative of the town.
OWNER. When applied to the proprietorship of a dog, shall mean any person or persons, firm, association or corporation owning, keeping or harboring a dog.
POUND. An animal shelter, lot, premises or building maintained by, or authorized or employed by, the town for confinement or care of dogs seized either under the provisions of this chapter or otherwise.
POUND MASTER. The custodian selected by the Town Council to be responsible for the operation of the dog pound.
UNLICENSED DOG. A dog for which the license for the current year has not been paid, or to which the tag provided for in this chapter is not attached.
VICIOUS DOG. A dog that has bitten without provocation or a dog that has a known propensity to attack or bite.
