§ 32.020 ELECTION; APPOINTMENT OF DEPUTY CLERKS.
   (A)   The City Clerk shall be elected, and shall serve a four-year term of office and until a successor is elected and qualified, as provided by state statute.
   (B)   The City Clerk shall have the authority to appoint one Deputy Clerk to discharge the functions and duties of the office of City Clerk, who need not be a resident of the municipality; provided that no such appointment shall be made unless and until funding for the Deputy Clerk position described herein has been approved by the City Council in the fiscal year budget for the year of any such proposed appointment.
   (C)   For administrative convenience, and to provide better service to the general public, the City Clerk shall have the authority to appoint other Deputy Clerks, in addition to the Deputy Clerk position described in division (B) of this section. Such additional Deputy Clerks need not be residents of the municipality, but shall be employees of the city, and shall discharge certain functions and duties of the office of the City Clerk without any compensation other than their budgeted salary as a city employee, regardless of whether they are a full-time exempt/salaried employee, a full-time non-exempt/hourly salary employee or a part-time employee.
