§ 32.011 DUTIES.
   The Mayor shall be the chief executive officer of the city, shall take care that the laws and ordinances are faithfully executed, from time to time may, and annually shall, give the corporate authorities information concerning the affairs of the city and may recommend for their consideration measures the Mayor believes expedient and shall perform such duties as may be required by state statute or local ordinance. The Mayor shall have general supervision and control of the police department and shall see that the various police officers are prompt and efficient in the discharge of their duties. The Mayor shall have supervision over all executive officers and employees of the city, the power and the authority to appoint with the advice and consent of the City Council heads of departments of the city consistent with the employment policies and agreements of the city and to inspect all books and records pertaining to city affairs and kept by any officer or employee of the city, at any reasonable time.
