A. Appointment And Promotion: The power of appointment to all entry level firefighter positions, and the power of promotion for the ranks of Lieutenant and Battalion Chief shall be in the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the Village.
B. Deputy Fire Chief:
1. There is hereby created in and for the Village the Office of Deputy Fire Chief.
2. The Deputy Fire Chief shall be appointed by the Fire Chief.
3. The Deputy Fire Chief may be appointed from any rank of sworn, full time firefighters of the Village's Fire Department and must have at least five (5) years of full time service as a firefighter in the Oak Brook Fire Department.
4. The Deputy Fire Chief position shall be an exempt rank subordinate exclusively to the Fire Chief. Said Deputy Fire Chief shall serve at the discretion of the Fire Chief, and, if removed from the position, shall revert to the rank held immediately prior to the appointment to the Deputy Fire Chief position.
