(a) All motor vehicles manufactured or assembled on or after January 1, 1954, shall be equipped with electrical or mechanical directional signal devices capable of clearly indicating an intention to turn either to the right or to the left and which shall be visible from both the front and rear. The signals shall be in working order.
(b) Turn signal lights shall be visible at a distance of not less than 300 feet in normal sunlight.
(c) Motorcycles manufactured after January 1, 1968, shall be equipped with turn signals.
(d) All mechanical signal devices shall be self-illuminating devices when in use.
(e) Whoever violates any provision of this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor on a first offense; on a second offense within one year after the first offense, the person is guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree; on each subsequent offense within one year after the first offense, the person is guilty of a misdemeanor of the third degree.
