929.01 INSTALLATION, REPLACEMENT, REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE.
The original purchase and installation of a water meter shall be made by the consumer. After a meter has been installed and placed in service, the City Water Department will assume the maintenance of the meter or its replacement by another meter of the same size, without charge to the consumer. Therefore, the meter becomes City property, provided, however, that in the case of damage by freezing, hot water or other neglect on the part of the consumer, the cost of repairs or of replacement shall be charged to the consumer. If these costs are not paid within thirty days, the Water Department shall discontinue service until such charges are paid.
