(a) Should the owner of a licensed vehicle desire to substitute another vehicle of the same class, the owner shall file an application as provided for in Section 763.03 hereof, with the Director of Public Safety, setting forth the information to be furnished as stated in that section. The Director shall promptly consider the application and if he finds that the applicant is the owner of the vehicle for which the license is desired, that the vehicle is a safe and fit conveyance and that it complies with all the requirements of this chapter, he shall notify the City Auditor who shall transfer the license upon the furnishing of the bond or insurance required.
(b) Should the owner of a licensed vehicle desire to substitute temporarily, not more than thirty days, another vehicle of the same class, the owner shall file an application as provided in Section 763.03 hereof with the Director setting forth the information to be furnished as stated in that section. The Director shall promptly consider the application, and if the Director finds that the applicant is the owner of the vehicle for which the license is desired, that the vehicle is a safe and fit conveyance and that it complies with all requirements of this chapter, he shall notify the Auditor who shall transfer the license to the other vehicle belonging to the owner for a period of not more than thirty days upon the furnishing of the bond or insurance required. Within the period of thirty days, if the owner of the vehicle files an application requesting the transfer of the license to the vehicle for which it was originally issued, then the Auditor shall transfer the license, if the condition of the vehicle shall be satisfactory to the Director under the terms and conditions of this chapter.
